Should I sing a requiem for my dream today,
the unsung dream which in its grave now does lay,
Should I write an epitaph or lay a wreath,
But what if it has left a pulse to bequeath?

What if the pulse is racing fast to be the heir,
Of a kingdom which is dead beyond repair,
What if a civilization is waiting to be born,
What if the night was but a morn?

I think I will let my dream hang by that breath,
For even if that battling champion falls to its death,
It will never complain that I didn't give it one last bout to fight,
It will never begrudge that I didn't gift it its last wings to take flight.

शामियानें में अंधेरा भरा हो जैसे।
कुछ तो सुराग रख जाता ,
लोग पूछें तो हम बताएं कैसे ।

तू इस कदर मुझे अधूरा कर गया ,
सिसकियों से ज़िंदगी भरी हो जैसे ।
कुछ तो रस्में निभा जाता ,
ख़ुद को पूरा बताएं कैसे ।

पर अक़सर , करिश्में !
तन्हा इंसानों के आशियानें ,
तलाशती हैं फिर ,
मिसाल कमातीं हैं ।

जानें , कितनो का जलना लिखा होता हैं ।
गर इक औरत , अपने हिसाब से चले ।
औरतें–मर्द बराबर जलते हैं ।

सारे ताक बिछाए रहते ।
इक कदम लेती नहीं आगे ,
कि ये उसे , पिछे खींचते ।
इस सोच में डूबे रहते ,
कैसे उसे महसूस कराए ।
वो लांघ रही , अपने दायरे ।

धूप–छांव वाले इस मंजर में ,
सनक और पक्के इरादों में पकती ।
कभी वो हार नहीं मानती ,
अपनी कोशिश पूरी करती ।

जानें , कितनो का जलना लिखा होता हैं ।
गर इक औरत , अपने हिसाब से चले ।
औरतें–मर्द बराबर जलते हैं ।
