दोस्त के जन्मदिन की पार्टी में जाने के बजाय
मैं घर में कुंडी लगाकर अकेला बियर पिने चला गया,
और फिर एक छोटे से रेस्टोरेंट में बैठा था
और फिर आंख बंद कर बारीकि जानकारियां का निरीक्षण करने लगा।
उन चीज़ों के बारे में' जैसे वह जो मेरे सामने से दाहिने और महिला बैठी है
उसकी उंगलियों को देखो ऊपरी हिस्से को,
वह जरूर टाइपिस्ट रही होगी
नहीं! वह टीचर भी हो सकती है,
जितना अधिक मैंने देखा उतना अधिक मुझे विश्वास हुआ।
वह म्यूजिक टीचर थी।
वह अंग्रेजी के छोटे से शब्द को ठीक करने के बजाय
उसे काट कर पूरी तरह से दोबारा लिखती है
अब मैं उसके बारे में सोच नहीं सकता,
अगर मैंने भी अपना काम समय से पहले ख़त्म कर लिया होता
तो मैं अब तक जेल से बाहर आ चुका होता।....
