Ode to Mathematics
Hey! The queen of all sciences!
The crown adorns your head.
Yet where would one find you,
You who eludes all existence!
Galileo called you the language
In which the universe is written.
Yes, it indeed is, and yet your realm
Transcends all physical existence.
You are the master puppeteer
Holding the strings of all life and sciences,
That dance upon the stage of Earth and beyond,
But you remain behind the stage, invisible.
Count one, two, three and on and on
To where, infinity or eternity,
Yet you do not exist in those 1, 2 or 3.
Merely your symbols they are,
But not what you really are.
Like God Almighty, you are everywhere,
We see you in everything and yet
We do not see you!
