I ponder, "some habits never change".
She still does it.
Yet unaware of the ten rupee note
That often used to go Missing,
From the secret chain in her purse
Yet would know as the jar
of biscuits start receding.
From bournvita without sugar
To having tea with less sugar
My mother grew up with me.
"No need to go out and play" to
"When are you coming home,
I miss you" over the
uncountable phone calls
My mother grew up with Me.

THE COMFORTS OF MY HEART


the ideas about you and me, sitting on the plain grass somewhere in the beautiful mountains feeling the smooth cold breeze on our face while watching the sunset. Then at night we make a little bonfire and with melodious music that plays behind. We watch the stars glimmers by looking through each other's eyes.

माना कि तौफे हज़ार लाते हों,
रंगीन कागज़ों में लपेटे कई ख्वाब लाते हो ,
कभी फिते से बांध कर तो कभी सुटलियो से गुथकर ,
तुम अब भी अपने दिल की बात हर बार केह जाते हो ,
कभी कहते हो तुम पर पियर सरसो का फूल खूब भाता है,
कभी हरी चूड़ियों से मुझे रंग जाते हो,
तुम्हे तो उस ओखली कि कुट में भी मेरी गूंज सुनाई देती है,
तुम हर बार मझे पुकार कर कोई पुराना राग गा जाते हो,
मैं कह कह कर थक जाती हूं और तुम मनातें नहीं थकते,
आज भी इन सफेद तारो के लिए कनेर के फूल बाग से तोड़ लाते हो,
मैं बार बार मना कर थक जाती हूं,
तुम आज भी ढीली सी कमीज़ में रंगीन कागज़ों में लपेट कर , कपकपाते हाथों से सुतलियो को पकड़ कर उस बेज़ान में जान डाल जाते हो ,
तुम आज भी तौफे मेरे लिए हज़ार बार लाते हो ,
बार बार लाते हो।

একুশ বছর পর...

আবার হয়তো দেখা হবে ফেলে আসা কোনও বিকেলবেলায়,
হাতে হাত ঠিক ছুঁয়ে যাবে আমাদের আচমকা কোনও অবহেলায়।
ফেলে আসা স্মৃতিগুলির ধূলোচাদর এক লহমায় যাবে উড়ে,
অভিযোগ-অভিমানের ছেঁড়া পাতাগুলো হঠাৎ চাহুনিতে যাবে পুড়ে।
ছেড়ে এসেছিলাম যে পথ আমি বহুকাল আগে ভুল বুঝে,
তোমার সাথে চলতে চলতে আরও একবার ঠিক নেব খুঁজে।
আবার নতুন করে পথচলা,নতুন আমি-নতুন তুমি,নতুন আমরা।
