About Walking on the Terrace and Music
— % &My evening routine of walking on our apartment terrace with dad cannot get more dopamine - crazy. The day before yesterday, I joined my dad for walking, with my usual apprehensive conscience, even belly fat and borderline bulimia nervosa would literally smirk. — % &However, I convinced myself that world always underestimates the extreme ability of a Couch Potato to transform into French fries. It does take some cutting and deep-frying, but at the end reality supercedes irony. So, I dragged on my clumsy self for some body movement and a little bit of introspecting session too, along with Appa, who had become a man of no words during the walking hour at recent times. — % &I pull his leg (not literally ofcourse) everytime to not overtake steps ahead of me, hold his arms to slow him down, make him do high-five with me whenever we finish a round, race him with a little jog when he starts to speed up, snatch his phone and hear songs wasting away the battery from his phone, all things weird. That day, the mobile data in his phone was not up to the point, and the fm radio app was incessantly buffering. Hence, I had to switch to the regular saviour - the downloaded song files section.— % &I started playing my current jams like Naadha Vinodhangal, Sangeedha Jaadhimullai, Azhagu Malar Aada, Raasaathi Unna, and Kangal Irandaal (Strange that I mentioned these as my current jams right? Some of the songs credit courtesy: Super Singer Junior 8 - btw today's the grand finale). Everything was special and blissful about the songs of that particular generation, especially the enigmatic and energetic Carnatic fast-paced genre, which were quite relevant then, but are not even made now sadly. The amalgamation of SPB sir's and Janaki mam's voice and Ilaiyaraja sir's music raised my body's dopamine to another level, more so when SPB sir sings the swaras in the saranam portion of Sangeedha Jaadhimullai and when Janaki mam starts in Azhagu Malar Aada, enough to make transitions from reality to dream, back and forth. — % &The energy put forth in those songs really made me imbibe and cultivate that into my walking skills. Such rapidly-paced songs made me realise the josh within me, that I never really noticed and win walking races with Appa, which he didn't really care about.
I only wish more fast-paced carnatic mix gets composed this generation, like the emerging kuthu numbers nanely Pathala Pathala, Jalabulajangu, Vaathi Coming, Arabic Kuthu, and many et ceteras, which may go on.— % &Another important song which boosted my walking style to three-fold is Kangal Irandaal, the infamous song from the mid 2000's. The interesting thing I found from the song is it provides spaces in threes', and makes me completes three steps in three seconds. There is ofcourse a slow motion part in the song, which can be considered as a warm-up break for the next set of steps. The song pretty much goes in my mind like this:

— % &I think since I imagined the song in English, it may be convenient to say that I broke it into syllables and stuffs, in order for it come in the count of three and match my walking style. Last year and even a few months ago, I was continuously going for walks with Appa, but the consistency somehow got disrupted owing to laziness, procrastination and all that lame stuff. But I am slowly bouncing back to positively say. I hope to continue this song and walk routine, and find vintage jams, which may actually be pretty new to me. Let's the close it for now.
