कितनी सुन्दर कितनी प्यारी, इनकी मीठी वाणी..!!
पोरबंदर में जन्म हुआ,
इंग्लैंड में पढ़ा - लिखा..!
सन् 15 में भारत लौटे,
यहाँ पर थे अंग्रेज मोटे..!
नमक आंदोलन उन्होंने छेड़ा,
गरीब, भिखारियों का जंजीर तोड़ा..!
सन् 47 में अंग्रेजों को किया उन्होने बे - पानी..!
कितनी सुन्दर कितनी प्यारी, इनकी मीठी वाणी..!!
अंग्रेज भागे दुम दबाकर,
आजादी मनाई ढोल बजाकर..!
सन् 48 में गोड्से ने चलाई गोली,
हे राम ! था गाँधीजी की अंतिम बोली..!

Dear Bapu,

I admire you for being able to accomplish something that seems impossible today. You managed to scale compassion among the masses. By appealing to the humanity within them. I still wonder how you were able to pull it off.

As we have seen in the recent times, with the vile IT cells of the world, hatred is what is most scalable. Being the gossip loving voyeuristic species that we are, we love to hate and put blame on anyone who's not like us. We have seen what it has done to us as a society. Made it immoral and reprehensible. In a similar society in your times, when India was much poorer and unemployed, you had it figured out. You first empowered the masses via the khadi movement and made them self-reliant and then, through sheer strength of values and your own example, instilled in them virtue of peaceful resistance. As a runner, I know how much courage it takes to be self-disciplined. As a freedom fighter, you gave self-discipline a different meaning. The most courageous of all. The courage to be non-violent even in the face of violence.

उनकी याद में October 2 को
हम उनकी जन्मदिन मनाते है...
उनकी महान काम को याद करते हुए
