Dandi March (March 12- April 6, 1930) 🏳

On March 12, 1930 'Father of the Nation' 🇮🇳 Mahatma Gandhi along with a band of 78 members of Sabarmati Ashram, was to march from his headquarters in Ahmedabad to Dandi (240 miles distance). Gandhi broke the salt law by picking up a lump of salt at Dandi beach on April 6.

Spine erected
Not merely for salt
But to snach the
Letter from destiny
The letter of freedom
Freedom from
Humiliation,
Fear,
Discrimination and
Injustice.
An old Indian man
Started the March
Holding a stick
Not to hit but for balance
And we followed him
Despite of age, class,
Gender and cast.

108A) SALT SATYAGRAHA.

There occurred darkest of eclipses long time ago,
Indian skies were dullen to the core with an evil shadow,
foes had an eye on the beautiful golden passerine,
enslaving her was an illegitimate dream, they had seen.

In the desire to own every bit of hers that was Godgifted,
the farms, their yields, the labour, their land, they had shifted,
the swamp of tortures they pushed her into, deep down,
struggled until last, too strong was she to surrender and drown.

One such chapter of the long History of her life,
is about the Salt Satyagraha, the greatest prominent strife,
Britishers asked the Indians not to deal in their own salt,
production and sale from Indian was missioned to witness an halt.

It was wise to fight a peaceful non-violent battle,
Gandhi preached harmony and stood against blood shed,
though the procedure was a bit slow but sure to settle,
he scaled path of Satyagraha, thus Dandi March was led.
