You text you miss me. I sit with a wide smile, unable to decide what to reply. I miss you too is sincere but it lacks effort. I don't want to plagiarise what you felt first. Anything else I write seems too much effort. As a writer, it's one of those rare times when I'm out of words.
I decide to take the help of a thousand words—a picture, a moving picture at that! I open the Gif search on Whatsapp only to find yet another text box. I'm clueless. I think about you & the thing that defines you. Movies. That's how we bonded. The way you feel about movies & actors is exactly how I feel about books & authors. I think about the one movie that tied us two. About Time. Your favourite movie that became my favourite because it was written & directed like a novel. I search for 'About Time Movie' on Giphy & send you the gif where the heroine surprises the hero by showing up at his door with an I-know-I-am-awesome face. No other words, just the gif. You love my reply. It is personal, memorable, meaningful. Original, you say. Better than a thousand words I could, or not, think of. The writer in me however can't take how miserably I failed & comes here to write these thousand words. No match.-
