Splendor of the night

Night is knocking at my door
To bestow what it came for
An out from blinding light
A time of peace, a blank sight

Except the occasional hide and seek
By lamppost's light sneaking a peek
From curtains afloat with sinuous breeze
With Lullabies of trees ruffling their leaves
Rousing the glamor of alluring dark
Startled by a dog's distant bark
Or an occasional honk of a car
Louring aloud somewhere far-
Lively reminders of the world outside
With moonlight being its glistening guide.

The beautiful night manifests multifold
When it drizzles with winds streaming bold
And drip, drip, drip trickles the rain
Beyond chaos with no whiff of pain
And there I lie, safe and snug
Giving my blanket an extra tug
Donning crown of ephemeral dark
Soothing my nerves, calming my heart.
And I doze off to the splendor of shadow
Of the night who'd bestowed what it came for.
