वर्ण ज्ञान तथा अक्षर परमात्मा है
वर्ण की परिकाष्ठा जहाँ
अहं उत्पन्न शंका वहाँ
अक्षर अखिल-विश्व हेतु है
निर्वात प्रतिध्वनि जिसकी साक्षी है
अक्षर-ज्ञान ही श्रेष्ठ है
गीता उपनिषद का भी यही सार है

OM consists of four syllables: A, U, M, and the silent syllable. The three letters pronounced together embody the divine energy and reveal its three essential features: creation, preservation and liberation. When pronounced correctly, Om actually sounds like AUMMMM.

The first syllable is A. The emission of the A, pronounced like a prolonged “awe” should start at the back of the throat. Stretch the sound until you feel the solar plexus and chest vibrate.

The second syllable is U. The emission of U, pronounced like a prolonged “oo” should gently roll forward along the upper palate until you feel the throat start vibrating.

The third syllable is M, pronounced like a long “mmm”. Touch gently the front teeth until you reach the top of the vibration.

Om couldn’t be complete without the last syllable, which is mute. This is the silenced sound of the Universe. The last syllable, M, is gradually muted to the deep silence, thus completing the perfect circle of Om.
