Even the darkest of nights is not scary with the moon and the stars for company.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder where you are?
Up above the smoke and lights
of marred Earth and polluted skies.

Meanwhile they are too faint while they're still there, but we can't see them because of light pollution is getting so high.

रात को जरा
आसमान देखने निकली
तो चांद शिकायतें कर बैठा !

दिन दहाड़े हो रहा है
तारों का अपहरण ,
धरती के प्रेमियों द्वारा ...
जिन्होंने किये हैं
तारे तोड़ लाने के वायदे ;
और उन्हीं तारों से,
सभी प्रियतमाओं ने
सजा लिए हैं
अपने अपने घर ।

आसमां के इतने तारे
लाए जा चुके हैं धरती पर
कि अब आसमां खाली है और धरती जगमगा रही है !

Not many stars show in the sky nowadays.
I wonder where they're gone.
Did we upset them praying for their fall?
To close our eyes and wish upon.

Lying next to you stargazing,
figuring out constellations.
I still look out from the window, but
find them reduced to dippers and orions.

That blowing countryside breeze
and our wish to touch the stars.
Blooming in Almighty's garden,
How we yearned to pluck those flowers.

Throbbing to Tony's towering rooftop.
Still failing to reach them.
"Someday we'll get them and gift each other,"
we promised when we meet again.

Standing in high rise cabin,
Surrounded by the clouds,
Still active in my quest but
Cannot find their whereabouts.

Some say the sky's been washed out.
Some shrug it with "who cares?"
Wish the world could turn back to
You, me and late night glare.

Hope it's not the same with you
Hope you look above from the meadow
And still see what I cannot
From these glass walls and these large windows.

Looking for Stars

Cities create brilliant illusions,
I mean it in the literal sense
"brilliant".
Through the window of a skyscraper,
you see a carpet of stars twinkling below.
You look up, with a hope,
but not without the
acknowledgement of its futility
and then you see a tiny gleam,
which was just about to shatter
that acknowledgement,
when you realise that
it was an airplane flash.

When we look at the night sky
Above and beyond
In the hope to feel
the cool breeze
And listen to rattling of the leaves
To see the vivid image of a sky filled with
glimmering tiny little stars
But all we feel is hot dry air
While we listen to the honking cars
See the dark gloomy sky
Without a single tiny little star
In despair

Ab surma nhi lagati hai

Keet - patange, panchhi bhi
Raushni se bhatak jate hai
Ek hi jagah chakkar lagate
thakkar, hamesha ke liye gir jate hai

Rat nhi khamosh ab
Nirantar vahano ka shor hai
Raushni se bheega har shahar
Ab jag raha aatho pahar.
