Often we overlook

Often we overlook,
the small, and essential
things at our jocund times,
the things we can't do
without even for a single day.
Things without which,
we would have become
a filthy dross on society,
Things which make our
smile confident, speech fresh.

I wrote this now,
Tomorrow I will visit my
home town for vacation
still I might forget to pack
my soft bristled toothbrush and
sweet, minty toothpaste.
Finally I would use a rough
and bitter neem stick.

Savour poetry,
even when you cannot
absorb it in its entirety.
For now,
feel the words rolling
inside your mouth,
syllable by syllable
some of them lingering
a bit longer when
tongue touches the palate,
some of them escaping
in the meanwhile.

Poetry will come to you
taking its time
like raindrops
reach the roots
rolling through leaves,
after lingering sometime
on netted veins.

They ask,
"What are you addicted to?"
and I wonder,
"Am I even attached to anything,
attached to enough?"

Be yourself
it's a matter of time
and their perception.
At times they will
hide from your heat
and your light would
pierce their eyes,
at others they would
open their windows
to see your bright colors
and your warmth
would be the most
beautiful thing they'll
ever feel.

Heart has Fragile Glasswares

opening up is
not easy, because
heart is a cupboard
whose deepest chambers are
closed with opaque doors,
no one can see through.

fragile and antique glasswares
lay stacked inside, in a way
that they would drop and shatter
into a thousand pieces if opened,
bleeding itself and
hurting the ones who neared.

but the right person
would catch them all
before they fall
stacking them up
safely for it to open
every next time

Sometimes,
the past becomes
heavy,
heavier than the present can
carry,
it drags the present
to sink in it,
like a heavy anchor
would do to a
fragile boat
in deepest of
seas.

we can truly
open up,
only in front
of two kinds of people
first, who, we know
will not judge us
and second, who we don't
care, whether they do or not,

first, the ones
closest to our hearts,
second, complete strangers.

difficult roads
open up to

sometimes,
we intentionally
detach ourselves from
some things,
then look for the
same things
in different places,
different people

Comforter

Maa bought me
a double size comforter,
for the looming winter
and I've been noticing
for some years,
that the season of rains
and cyclones
is blending into
the season of heimal nights
and murky dawns,
making the cold last long~
