I keep running from pillar to post,
searching words that can heal
what I have always left unhealed.
I keep running from mom to God,
asking questions about why pain
is the best friend I have to make.
I keep running from drought to flood,
asking whether I can control my urge
to self destruct the dreams I call mine.
I keep running from valleys to hills,
asking for a home that makes me
feel that ease is around the corner.
