In 2009, after publishing my first book, I started working on a medical thriller. It was an ambitious project about an HIV+ patient who gets so much harrowed by how society stigmatised his condition that he starts taking revenge from the society. With his blood as the weapon, he infects people with the virus and ends up causing an epidemic of HIV. I researched every book I could lay my hands on, conducted interviews of patients and their family members and set off on the project with great confidence. Two weeks and twenty thousand words down the line, I found out that I wasn't good enough. My writing was too basic to do justice to the nuances. I chose to put the book on hold, for years, until I had more maturity and sensitivity as a person and more finesse and flair as a writer. It might take another decade and I shall wait to become worthy of the book.

This decision came back to me last week. I was with you, wailing, telling you how I wasn't good enough when we were together. How my immaturity as a lover traded emotions for ambitions, love for fun. How you did the right thing moving on. How I need to evolve, to grow. It might take years and I shall wait to become worthy of you.

आंखे खुली और जवाब मिला एक प्यारा सा ख्वाब था वो ............

मन ऊब सा गया है अब

जबरदस्ती के रिस्तो से।

Today when i saw my shadow ,i realised that its not like it was ever before , earlier my shadow too use to smile when truly i use to have a real smile ,but now like i use to have a fake smile and pretend to be happy infront of this world ,my shadow never smiles as shadows never lie,

दुःखों से आहत कभी होना मत,!!

कोई रोता हैं, खुशी बयां करने को !
कोई हंसता हैं, दर्द चुपाने को...!

रुख़ से पर्दा उठे तो ये नज़रें दीदार करें
जन्नत-ए-सूरत या सीरत बोल किस पे ऐतबार करें

वक़्त लगता है मात खाने में
पर मज़ा भी है हार जाने में

आग लगती है कारख़ाने में
लोग मरते हैं पर बुझाने में

मैं भी अब रो रहा हूँ गाने में
आप मशगूल हैं बजाने में

चोर लिखने लगा रपट यारो
बंद कर दे न मुझको थाने में

एक ढूँढो हज़ार मिलते हैं
ग़मज़दा हैं कई ज़माने में

जो थे किरदार मर गए सारे
मैं ही ज़िंदा हूँ अब फ़साने में

ऐसा रोड़ा लगा दिया उसने
उम्र बीतेगी अब हटाने में

नींद फिर आ गई मुझे 'सालिक'
मौत बैठी रही सिरहाने में
