Balconies, balconies, balconies. The most memorable part of the homes I have been to. Whether it was the dark moonlit balcony in Vasant Kunj where I was smoking up with you, talking about stars and sitar, or the one in Gurgaon that faced the Medanta, a multi-speciality where I imagined myself to be admitted for ahem ahem. The one in the Himalayas which triggered the flurry of those letters, or the one in Delhi overseeing a fort like a sage. The bait that got quite a few interested in it, in me. Or the balcony back home where I confined myself for two years, slogging for JEE with intermittent guitar breaks. Which one to remember, which one to forget.
My office, where I spend 12 hours a day, has no balcony. There is a terrace instead. It's too big to feel like home. Hence, I take puffs and come back. Unlike balconies, it doesn't make me stay, it doesn't make me remember. I am thankful for it lets me work.-
