Our friends would accept our invitation and arrive at half past five. We would first plan to cook a lavish dinner at home but quickly resort to Pizza when I point out that you can't load so many dishes in the dishwasher.

We would eat pizza and get drunk on Coke. I would sneak away the last two pieces for later, which you would know because you always spy on me. After eight hours of ‘fun,’ our friends would silently up and leave our house like ants going home on a rainy day.

I would get changed while you barely managed to keep your hands to yourself. I wouldn't know when you stole my last two pieces, but I would find the Pizza box inside the oven empty.

You would stand on the balcony, begging me to open the door. I wouldn't budge even when you told me how freezing it was until you ordered another small veggie supreme. I will open the balcony doors so you can collect the Pizza.

We would huddle on our inflated airbed, watching some Korean drama that I forced you into.

Hey you,

I don’t know why I felt the need to write this today—of all nights, why this night—but listen to me. I sense that you are tumbling down faster—perhaps, you thought that the quicker you fall into the abyss, the easier it would be—and you have no intention of stopping yourself. I don’t know why that gives me more heartache and pain.

It would help if you didn’t judge yourself for the mistakes of the past with the knowledge of the present. Could we have done things better? Yes. Does our present selves know what’s more important for the joy of our souls? Definitely. Are we better now than our impulsive, decisive, and headstrong past selves? Of course!

We are who we are now because of the lessons our past selves had to learn and endure. I know it’s all hard to reason with—because, at times, it drives me mad, too.

But, you have me.

Hey, this downfall is necessary, but can you promise to be aware and not rush it through? When you are at the bottom of the barrel, there is only going up after that. Can you hold on a little longer?
