Friends just digital images
Homes now fortresses
Intimacy closed shop
Personal borders raised
People wear a masks
Waiting for past return.

They say tribes work on primal instincts
That they should not be trusted
And yet they have more compassion and solidarity
Than the said "civilised men"!

आदिवासी नारी हो तुम,

बचपन से पिता को,
लड़का सा मात देकर,
कन्धों से कन्धे मिलाकर घर मे हाथ बटाती हो,

झटपट घर के काम निपटाकर,
खेत खलिहानों को भी,
खुद सा महकाती हो,

तपती धूप में भी,
छावं की उम्मीद न करकर,
तुम संघर्ष पर संघर्ष करती जाती हो,

आदिवासी नारी हो तुम,

उन घने जंगलों में,
जहाँ तुम्हारा गांव है,
शेरनी सी बनकर तुम,
सर पर लड़की के गठ्ठे रखकर,
ऊँची पहाड़ियों पर से,
तुम बिना रुके बिना थके,
घर तक लाती हो,

चहरे को आईने में न देखकर,
न अपने बालों को संवाहार कर,
तुम जिम्मेदारी के आगे अड़िग खड़ी हो जाती हो,
उम्र का तो मुझे अनुमान नही,
तुम बस अपने हुनर से पहचानी जाती हो,

आदिवासी नारी हो तुम,

Santhali or Jarava
In the country's heartland
Or a far away land
Has a unique synergy and ouevre
Make you dance at their drum beat
To the senses the colours and sounds
Are surely a treat
