Saffron in our tricolour portrays strength and courage of the country. In no way, it should be used to portray one's hatred towards a particular community. The incidents in Karnataka, where school going students wearing saffron scarves have come out to protest against girls wearing hijab only demeans the meaning of saffron in particular and tricolour in general. When students this young raise their disagreement towards a cloth wore by females of another religion, it only communalises their mind beyond any repair.
The ethos of Sarva Dharma Samabhava, i.e all religions lead to the same goal is what Swami Vivekananda ought us to propagate; Vivekananda was a proponent of a multicultural nation rooted in religious tolerance and modernity, and incidents like these wouldn't make him any proud.— % &
