Trying to be happy — I must,
Even when dreams gather dust.
Even when smiles feel far away,
I tell my heart, “Try anyway.”

The sky isn’t always calm or blue,
Some days are heavy, some pass through.
But I wake up and still I trust —
Trying to be happy… I must.

There’s fear in the waves, doubt in the air,
Still I keep walking, unaware
Of where it leads — but forward I go,
Hiding my tears in the afterglow.

I miss what’s gone, I miss what’s near,
But I won’t drown in silent fear.
Because somewhere inside, I know it’s just —
A voice that says: Trying to be happy… you must.

दिल को भी अब तआरुफ़-ए-उल्फत नहीं रहा,
कहने को इश्क़ है, मगर हसरत नहीं रहा !!

हम ख़ुद से पूछते हैं तेरा गुनाह क्या,
तू बेवफ़ा भी था तो शिक़ायत नहीं रहा !!

जिन आँखों में तेरी झलक़ थी कभी कभी,
अब उनमें भी कोई ताबिर-ए-रहत नहीं रहा !!

ग़म यूँ गले लगा कि सुकूँ का ख़याल भी,
मेहमान-ए-दिल रहा था, अदावत नहीं रहा !!

हमने तो दर्द को भी तअल्लुक़ बना लिया,
वरना तो इस जहाँ में इनायत नहीं रहा !!

After walking for miles,
I saw a cab,
only to be rejected for the price.
Disheartened, I continued to walk on,

Saw an ice cream cart,
took a bite—
but the ice cream fell off the cone,
melting fast on the hot pavement below.

Further down the road,
I reached for my phone,
only to find the battery dead—
silence where connection should be.

Then a sudden downpour,
no shelter in sight,
my clothes soaked through,
weighing heavy like my mood.

Yet still, I walked,
step by step,
through the small losses,
searching for a sign,
maybe a smile,
or a moment of light.

Still, I walk this uncertain line.

Sitting in a cosy home after a long day;
A book in one hand, your hand in the other,
Sipping coffee brewed with gentle love,
Sleep in our eyes, thick as the morning fog.
