I'm definitely not exemplary
in travelling the spiritual way,
because I commit distinct sins
like practically every single day.
I'm not trying to score points
by being honest about my flaws,
because there is no substitute
for following the spiritual laws.
The laws that I speak of
are for my own betterment;
they are safeguards against
my lower soul's temperament.
I may never be perfect
but I need to try a little harder,
because while humility is needed,
perseverance will take me much farther.
