often forget
to remember my
own perception of seclusion.

The objective view of linear progression of time overlayed with the philosophical view that time is a flat circle (repetitive) can be taken to regard it as a spiral.
It is this spirality that renders time elastic, like a spring. In the hands of our perception, it can be stretched or compressed.
Moments seem to be prolonged to ages when we're eagerly waiting for something to happen. Is that why it's called longing?
Conversely, ages pass by like moments when we're ecstatic. However, just like the stored potential energy of a stretched or compressed spring, time has the potential to jolt us back to reality as it retrieves its natural state.
