pillow stands misplaced
it welled up seeing nightfall
the act drenched it;
slithered in dark hours
the blanket, a bit frozen
at the memoirs of one-night upshot
as the cock crows
aurora hastes
through the skylight
it has to decipher
dark handwritten lies

हिमीभूत सर्व विश्व, ज्वलंत तपन

कर कृपा हे मात परम
निर्बाध हो असित मारीचिका

As a twelve years old, I began scribbling few couplets. Senseless and lame, as now I see them! But they are the most precious, as they made me express the my deepest thoughts.
As a 13 years old, I wrote "innocence meets innocence", the poem I had posted here, from my diary. My mother was a brilliant writer and a poet. As a budding writer, I would shyly take my poems to her and watch her expressions while she read them.
"This is good...you need to express better...you should write it this way..." had been her usual feedback.
She inspired me every way. She could write in english and hindi both, with an ease. Reading her poetry led me to write my first poem in hindi, which touched her heart. She gifted me a diary and said
"Fill it to the brim with your feelings, little darling, and see yourself grow!"
And she passed away with in few years after that.
I drank her words and kept filling it with poems. Just two years ago, I realized that only three pages are left in it. I stopped filling it more. But I'm still in touch with it by feeding it with the new words that I come across.
"Dear ma, I don't want to fill it to the brim because your little darling doesn't want to stop growing!!"
