एक इस शहर तो दूसरा उस शहर
लोग इसे ही दूरी का नाम देते है
पर फिर उनको उन्हीं के घरों मै
एक दुसरे से नज़रे चुराते देखा
तो पता चला कि
यह दूरी गांव और शहरों से भी बढ़कर है
जो लोग खुद के घरों मै अपनो से हि बनाए बैठे है।

मैं : कहां हो तुम, दिखाई नहीं दे रही हो
वो : मैं निकल गई
मैं : क्यूं?
वो : भैया साथ आए थे छोड़ने
मैं : मिलना न होता कम से कम देख तो लेता
वो : यही डर था तभी निकली
मैं : मतलब
वो : तुम एक बार देखना शुरू कर दो
तो फिर कही और नहीं देखते हो

फिर दोनो साथ में बहुत तेज हस्ते है!!

मैं : देखो चांद कितना सुंदर है।
वो : हां बहुत सुंदर।
मैं : मैं चांद को देख रहा हूं तुम भी देखो।
वो : हां मैं भी चांद को देख रही हूं।
मैं : कैसा लग रहा है?
वो : बहुत अच्छा!
मैं : लग रहा है जैसे हम एक दूसरे को देख रहे हो।
वो : हां! बिलकुल वैसा ही लग रहा है।

फिर दोनो घंटो चांद को देखते रहते है!!

We live nearby, but at the same time,far away from each other,
But... It's okay
We look up at the same stars,
We see how those stars
Millions of miles away
Shine bright.
They shine bright,
but not as bright as you
Not as warm as you.
They just cannot compete
With outstanding beauty of yours
With magnificent aura of yours.
Those stars, with a jaw dropping look
stare at your eyes, amazed by you.
They do nothing but adore you, from far away.
They are afraid.
One day, people might leave those stars behind, and
start comparing them with you,
start writing poems and art pieces about you,
But they are forgetting that
You are the "MOON"
Stars are many, but moon is one.

और बड़े होते होते यह एहसास हुआ हम अपने सपनो की ओर
तो बड जाते है पर अपने अपनो से बहुत दूर होते चले जाते है
पुरानी तस्वीर को देख मुस्कुरा तो जाते है पर खुदको अपनो के बिना देख अपनी आँखे नम कर जाते है
बिन अपनो के त्योहार तो मनाते है पर अपनो के बिना वो सारे
त्यौहार फीके रह जाते है
जब कोई घर में उत्सव मनाते है तो पूरे परिवार की तस्वीर देख
हँस तो बहुत हो जाते है पर खुदको उस तस्वीर में ना देख
अफसोस बहुत मानते है
हम इतने बड़े अखरी क्यों हो जाते है ये सवाल खुदसे कर जाते है
और हाँ तब भी अपने बहुत याद आते है

ये फासले कम कैसे होंगे?
जो दिन पर दिन बड़ते जा रहे है !

Distance

It was 2 in the night when the bus dropped me on the periphery of the city. There was no other human to be seen. Dogs howled in the distance. My steps faltered as I walked further. Everything else was still, silent as the grave. Street lamps continued to glare at the path below them, which slept like a motionless serpent. The wind played like a child, upon rooftops, knocking gently on tree branches and brushing against the skin of my face, sending a cold shiver. I unzipped my jacket and allowed the pleasant feeling of comfort to embrace me. It had been a long time since I had hugged someone so affectionately. Even though my heart wanted to linger in that moment, my mind drew me back into the memories of that same summer night when we had parted ways. I still remember when it all started...
