"MY ENCOUNTER WITH AN UNKNOWN"

CHAPTER 5

My friend Pritak belong to a Gujarati-family and he was of my age. On the contrary, I belong to a North-Indian-family. We both were far away from our native land , we were in the "Land of Intellectuals", sweetest part of India, "Bengal". I didn't knew Gujarati neither he could understand Bhojpuri. Hindi was our friendship-language and we were trying to learn Bangla (language of Bengal) from our Bangla-speaking friends.
Friendship just happens among those who have common interests irrespective of caste, creed , religion, etc.. , our friendship was one such example. We used to play and study together.
‎One thing that was quite uncommon and attractive about Pritak was he used to carry rectangular-aluminium-bag-set with him which he used to bring at private-tution. I had not seen anyone carrying books and copies in aluminium-bag-set so I always wanted to have a bag-set like him.

Chapter 5
And the alarm stroke, I got up but dad wasn't there. Usually I am the one waking him up. I started cooking for brunch. Sundays usually weren't holiday for us but that day I wanted to take a day off. As I opened the back door to put some clothes, I saw something nostalgic. My dad woke up early & he was exercising. He was wearing his black joggers with white sweatshirt and a headband. He had trimmed his beard after a long long time. He was jogging and all the aunties were looking at him with their eyes wide open. As if they were hitting on him. I was shocked & happy at the same time. He came back home and gave me a glance. I asked him about his super transformation and he said it is the new me baby. He asked me to change and meet him near the orchards. I changed and reached there, he had cleaned the our basketball court where we use to play when I was small. I enjoyed the whole day. He shared his heart out and told me everything. I thought maybe this was the time I could ask him more about my mom and their separation. He ignored the questions at first and tried to divert my mind but this time I wasn't 13 to look at the butterfly and forget my mom.

Her name is Pooja. She is an independent women, working as a journalist for "The Journal" despite facing all odds from her family being a commissioner's daughter in law. Her husband is a politician and will soon be fighting a state election. And the vendor also said in hush tone about the accusation on her husband, so he married Pooja, to get his image clean.

Sometimes destiny plays a vital role, few hours later to this incident, I received a call from "The Journal" and was asked to visit their office. I was told that I can continue with my book practice simultaneously and work for their "Open Pen" column as well.

A month ago, I denied their offer, but this time to keep a surveillance on Pooja, I accepted the offer.
