Wall watching
gonna give tough competition to
Bird watching
Once we are done with this lockdown.-
At times, I tag myself
a 'bad' photographer,
as birds keep watching
me from behind, until
I find them fly away!-
तू भी खामख्वाह,
बढ रही है, ए धूप;
इस शहर में पिघलने वाले,
दिल ही नहीं हैं।-
It is on mornings
like these
the cold wintry
mornings,
do I long for a
hot kiss of you
and do some
bird watching
from my
half opened eyes
Your taste warms me up
& I crave for one cuppa
more❤️

The Couple
Birds visited us
along with the sunrise.
Varied sizes and plumes
flitting, chirping.
Went missing
when the sun went high up,
until a pair of hornbills
came by noon.
A curious pair by the window sill,
attracted attention.
One sat stiff, unmoving,
face to the wall.
The other slid
in sideways
with a peculiar hop,
Until the other moved around.
As we watched the goings-on
our son quipped,
"Oh! That's the husband pacifying his wife."
From the mouths of babes.
-
The birdie chirpy,
perched on the green.
To watch the cutie,
I remained silent unseen.
-
She was the kind of girl who loved watching birds fly in the sky not just in the greeny meadows of rainforests but also in the lids of her pressure cooker which reflects the birds flight in the vast blue sky outside her kitchen when cooking.

Caught in the Snare
The stench of death loomed
as the pigeon hung
caught in the netting.
Flapping its wings,
the terrified bird tried to free
but to no avail.
Its botched efforts
left a trail of blood.
Feathered birds rallied around,
pecking and cooing
as it hung limp
as though dead.
Then as helping hands
freed its snare
abruptly flew the bird,
reaffirming the power of life
to revive.
