When you miss a flight

Sat there watching planes take off and land
remembering the times we flew hand in hand
Times when sun came up with vivid views
and my angel appeared through orange hues

I watch the folks come off their long flights
of unmoving clouds and pitch dark nights
Tired faces light up, hearts land from skies,
belts unbuckle as they rub their sleepy eyes

Daughters run to their father, hug a leg each
Jumping with excitement, his arms they reach
A tired son with a backpack, a bearded brother
fall into the arms of a tearful mother

A boy and a girl kiss like it’s their last time
Glance a thousand dreams bloom in prime
Familiar emotions I see but in faces of strangers
I am rescued again from my day full of errors

Feels so long since I waved her that goodbye
Kissed her forehead, eyes and watched her fly
I know everything’s still fine in this world
like the moment just before I let go of my girl

Departures
and arrival
of people,
so many of them,
now and then,
here and there,
flitting like carrom coins
everywhere.

At times,
airport feels like a person.
Most times,
I feel I am an airport.

You ask me why I want to drop you to the airport. That you are an independent woman and you don't need help, and for God's sake, no chivalry. It's not chivalry, I say. It's selfishness at best. I don't wish to let go of even a second that could have been spent with you. The hour long Uber ride, the city whizzing past like a mosaic of our memories of these couple of weeks spent together. Your head on my shoulders, my head on yours, your toes clutching mine, our hands wrapped.

It's not selfishness, you say. It's that corny word we disregard but secretly want. Love. After all, what is love if not the desire to stay just a little bit longer?

A novelist suffering from the harrowing inertness of writer's block doesn't have to go far away to crack back the creative juices. A proximate railway station or an airport would suffice by dousing him with the raw emotions displayed by the vulnerable humans indulged in sobbing departures or blazing arrivals.

I stood at the airport arrival🛩waiting for you, when I saw you with someone else🚶, everything just freezed. There was just your smile and my tear😢.
I cried and try to forget that but couldn't because you lied to me, broke me.😟
Did I do anything wrong or have i ever hurt you,
If not, then WHY?WHY ME?😥😖

Life is like an airport
Whoever comes
Has a purpose
And is in transit
Before reaching
The final destination
