I lay awake on my bed and think back
to the time when we had started
to get to know each other...
My thoughts then keep moving...
To your childhood memories,
Your crushes. Your fantasies.
Your favourite colour.
How embarrassed you had been about
our first amateur kiss...
How distinctively I could recognise
your scent amongst the others...
The first time when we walked to your house
drenched in the rains first
and later in our emotions...
And that last time we watched a movie
But you did not hold my hand in yours.
It's been over two decades now since
you took away our togetherness
from the pages of my diary
and left me with the dried rose petals
hoping to bring the pages some life...
Why then, does that time haunt me more
which was lesser than these lonely years
without you?

Every time she healed her scars, he gave her deeper wounds.
Every time she wanted her lips to curve, he rendered her eyes wet.
Every time she got up to walk away, he made her fall even harder.
Every time she tried to break free, he held on to her more tightly.
Every time she learned to let go of the past, he showed her beautiful dreams of the future.
And when she finally mended herself, he broke her irreparably.
Once again.

Left behind memories
Irresistible!
That feels like a crack
Made on my heart!
Irreparable!

My heart sinks today
And I do not know why
The time passes and nights prevail
My eyes refuse to find any sleep...
The scent from the roses that adorn
the vase on my dining table,
smells like the December evenings
which we spent together few years ago.
The shift of the moonlight
Away from the window of my bedroom
Reminds me of the time
when I could watch you walking away
Yet do nothing about it.
A helpless rhythm still goes on in the heart
and I have learnt to survive without you.
Or so do I believe...
Each moment still suffocates under
the trance of your vibes
When sleep takes me to the dreams
Which they say occur
because I'm still there, a few years ago
and my present lives in our lost past.

Sometimes letting go than to
firmly holding on could repair something deadly irreparable.

You hold nothing in my life
Except a few pages in my diary
which I would like to tear off,
Crush & crumple each paper
& burn them down in flames.
