Either there is sleep in the eyes
or there is a subject to write,
but what happens when both are absent .

absence of you.

मुझे लगी चोट देख कर,वो सहम जाती है।
उसे देख कर यूँ,मेरी तकलीफ ही गुम जाती है।।

Have you ever read a book,
which is intriguing
and you come to a point
where all of a sudden
a few pages are absent,
leaving you thinking
about all the 'ifs' and 'buts'
of what could have possibly happened.
That is how I am without you.

हाँ, मैं वहाँ नहीं था
क्योंकि;
मैं गया था...
खाद्य आपूर्ति विभाग की ओर से
खाद्यान्न बाँटने।
मैं गया था...
जनगणना विभाग की ओर से
जनगणना करने।
मैं गया था...
चुनाव आयोग की ओर से
वोटर लिस्ट संशोधित करने।

एक अध्यापक...
मात्र अध्यापक कहाँ होता है!
वह अध्यापन को छोड़
सब कुछ करता है।

और हाँ, उसकी अनुपस्थिति
मृत्यु होती है एक अध्यापक की!
