Some people always strive to have the best life—the best job, the best partner, the best wealth, and the best health—often in comparison to others. It’s natural to want a good life, as everyone desires perfection in their own way. However, the real issue arises when someone’s goal is not just to improve themselves but to be better than others at any cost.

Men can be celebrated for being heroes, rebels, thinkers, and even deeply flawed characters, while women often face more criticism, no matter what role they take on—even if they are "perfect" by societal standards.

It's true that women are often held to higher, sometimes contradictory, expectations. A woman who is ambitious may be called too aggressive, while one who is nurturing may be seen as weak. If she is confident, she may be labeled arrogant; if she is reserved, she may be called passive. This double standard exists in many areas, including leadership, personal life, and even how stories are told in movies and books.

5 painful lessons of life
I once sacrificed my dreams for others' sake,
Hoping love and concern would come my way.
But I lost myself in the process, my goals and ambitions too.
Now I know my worth, and I prioritize my own truth.

Not everyone will be happy with me, I've come to see,
Some may even cause suffering, but I'll be patient and free.
I'll persevere through challenges and "devils" in my life,
And trust myself to navigate through the strife.

I've learned to be self-sufficient, to rely on my own strength,
For I've not often found help when I needed it in length.
But I've discovered my voice, my writing, my relief,
A way to process emotions, to heal and to believe.

I am worthy of love, of respect, of happiness too,
And I'll keep expressing myself, authentically and true."

In this life, I have worked hard and endured for the sake of others, but they have all turned out to be selfish, only caring about their needs. I’ve tolerated everything for their sake, but now I realize it's time to change. However, none of these people are willing to change for me, and they don’t even acknowledge who I am or consider that I have my own desires and wishes.

One of the biggest truths about life is that we need to think about ourselves, but no one else will think about us. There will come a time when it feels like no one is truly there for us, and that can be very painful. No matter how much we do for others, we realize that no one is really there for us in the same way. The pain comes from the fact that we don't share this burden with others, so everyone around us takes advantage of how easily we carry this weight alone.

In my early years, I found joy in the simple things, living with a sense of happiness that came from within. I loved helping others and found fulfillment in making those around me happy. However, as I grew older, I began to notice that I was constantly sacrificing my own happiness for the sake of my parents and those around me. No matter how much I did for them, it never seemed to be enough, and I realized that their satisfaction would never be guaranteed. At the age of twenty, I made the decision to focus on myself—on my inner happiness, dignity, self-love, self-care, and self-employment. While this brought me a new sense of fulfillment, I find that I’m not as happy as I once was. I long to reconnect with the pure, unselfish joy that once defined my life and to find a way to balance my desire to help others with the need to care for myself.
