Like that sun's ray
That laughs, and sings and plays
And struggles and burns
And makes her way
To that bud
And makes it blossom
And similiraliy
She too lives
Her life she lives
And life she gives
and so we celebrate her today
Happy Woman's Day!!

The sun goes up
And goes back down,
But night is now,
when the laptop shuts down,
And mornings too begin with a frown.
One deadline leads to another,
Another , another, another, another.
And we are told, that oh one day,
In this mirage of anxiety, there will be
Love and wealth, and hope and peace.
And lo! The givers of such advise, themselves too are not free of chains,
just that our chains have advanced now.
Yet we blame ourselves for our misery,
And others for theirs',
Could the fault just not be us?
Think.

By people holding candles,
Closing eyes in hope,
Go unseen entire pyres
Of the helpless, dying in forlorn,
The eyes closed in faith
Have been shut for too long,
So long now, that for even opened eyes,
There is nothing but darkness to see.
Now is the time to open the eyes,
To bring forth the faith,
In to deeds of life,
To not stand still with candle,
But to march ahead with a
Collective light-
I go without writing,
For days on end,
Racing with the clock,
I drop my pen,
Then when fatigue strikes,
Or anguish hits,
Or love overtakes my heart
Or when wrath persists
I look back at the pen
And grab a paper
With shaking hands,
I begin a new piece
With hands shaking,
Wondering, Do I still have it in me?
Then at length, a poem smiles back in me,
"Did you hear that breath? That's a poem in thee"
-
So brightly shone
Was a hollow light
It rendered the world
Darker than night
All purpose seemed vague
Money was worthless
And so was fame
The ink seems to fade
The paper seems to decay
But still I write.-
Sometimes life brings lessons
I wish I would've never learnt
Some losses are so grave
Some wounds so profound
That all the stronger that they've made you
Seems worthless
But then I kept the lesson
And embraced the strength
The loss still aches in me
Perhaps it knows no healing
But then, what can be done?-
Every day the newspaper brings
Stories of rapes and molestation
Now a 40 year old
Now a 9 year infant
All news is read like a day's affair
And then forgotten in to the air
What happened to Hathras case?
To that case of the 6 year old?
To so many unnamed cases
That have just added up to the roll.
No one knows
No one cared
When it was in hashtags
Everyone shared
And that's it.
We all move on so quickly ahead
That the world is drowning into the darkest pit.-
A voice that spoke
A voice that was chocked
Father Stan too succumbed
To the mighty will of the state
To not let the aggrieved speak up
There ain't just one single government to blame
Assange, Snowden and so rolls the list of names
The class of unchecked might
Will play it's hideous games
Until the downtrodden unite
And puts it to flames-
Why is it,
That my hands shake today,
As I write
Why does the blank paper,
Reflect goaded eyes of trolls
Why does my heart sink
At every notification
Knowing not what it holds.
Smiling faces, face to face
Become demons online
Logic, Reason go all futile
Amidst slurs, hate & vile.-
Oh this surname,
Must have that trait
From that state?
Won't have an intellect
That can be called great
This sex can't drive
That sex shouldn't touch make up
The third sex? Oh it's all made up!
Yes you've heard this
This might even be your first instinct.
But reprimand yourself at every such thought
Fight the stereotype at every step
If you do not stand for them today,
How, tomorrow, shall you muster the strength
To defend yourself?-
