Writing A Poem

She sat by the fireplace,
Wanting to write a poem.
She'd write then she'd erase,
Waiting for an insight to come.

"That wasn't even rhyming!"-
She'd say, letting out a huff,
Leaning on the sofa-reclining.
She'd just had, had enough!

She went on a little walk,
Hoping that she'll be inspired.
Watching some people talk,
Suddenly she didn't feel tired.

After going home she wrote,
All the creativity seeping through,
With all her memories evoked,
She wrote a poem or two.

Waiting At The Station

I tap my foot as I wait,
Too many thoughts in my head.
I try and hum a song, albeit-
The words; I have misread.

Crumpled ticket in hand,
I should've kept it straight.
Put on music of my favorite band,
The one with which I relate.

'I should study.' I think,
Nevermind- don't feel like it.
My brain & heart aren't in sync,
That much I can admit.

I chew on a piece of gum,
It's strawberry- too sweet.
Finally, my train home has come,
I just hope I'll find a good seat.

Whirlwind
You showed me dreams of a paradise,
But now I see, it was hell in disguise.
I followed you like the fool I was,
Never thinking of what it would cause.

We were going faster than the wind,
To a destination, we were never pinned.
I was so in deep with the adrenaline,
I believed all your words to be genuine.

Perhaps I just wanted to be loved,
So to follow you, I felt I was behoved.
Anything too fast, is always left burnt,
Then why was I the only one to be hurt?

Now you're on another new adventure,
Still as fast, still without any indenture.
Just, this time I won't be your pillion rider,
But it's ok for you when you lay beside her.

Luminous Heart

I loved you cause you were alluring.
Eyes, an ocean blue- wide and luring.
Your smile an incandescent glow,
How could anyone not fall for you?

You picked me up when I was down,
Always helping everyone who's around.
Never complained about all my complaints,
You freed me from all my constraints.

Yes, I admit I loved you for your looks,
Now I love your love for coffee and books.
I failed to see your soul from the start,
But now I love you for your luminous heart.

Secrets

'till we are long dead and buried,
I won't utter a single word.
These secrets keep me harried,
For so long, it's really absurd.

Can try to get it out of me but -
I can't be tempted, I won't cave.
Because I swore to keep it shut,
I'll take it with me to the grave.

Here to Stay

"I'm no good for you." you say,
Locking yourself in your room you stay.
You drew the curtains of your heart,
With your happiness, you decided to part.

Into the deep end you are far too gone.
In the dark, you're barely hanging on.
Losing all hope you stay feeling blue,
Not realising that I'm right next to you.

If you'd only stop blocking out the light,
Cause with you, I'm always ready to fight.
Just let me in, let me be your hope,
With me as your brace you'll be able to cope.

You won't have to be a renegade again,
I'll help find the medicine for your pain.
"I'm no good for you." you say,
One day you'll realize that I'm here to stay.

Falling out of love

The silence is blaring loud,
And this time I have no doubt.
I must've been too blind not to see it,
Or maybe I just ignored that small bit.

I knew it from the start though,
Felt ignorance would at least make it slow.
I tried hard, I swear, to keep it how it was,
Perhaps that exactly, was the root cause.

Was I too paranoid? Did I suffocate you?
I do apologise for what I put you through.
But it turns out I was right afterall,
For you, walking out was the best call.

Never thought falling out of love was easy,
I never wanted this, can you not see?
But you always did have to prove me wrong,
And perhaps with me, you never did belong.

I Killed Someone Yesterday

I killed someone yesterday,
and now I don't know what to say.
Penitence painted on my face,
I have no right to plead my case.

Looking up at the ceiling I lay,
Cause nightmares plague me night 'n' day.
Sitting by the fire so late,
"Was it all worth it?" I debate.

The 'someone' I killed was the old me,
She wasn't really glorious, now I see.
But who am I to resolve her fate?
Afterall, I'm not all too great.

Beauty

Far and above, you travel across the globe,
"I'll find some beauty" you hold onto this hope.
You search through the skies, you search in the seas,
But not a beauty in sight that your heart can seize.

You look at all the people, you look at all the faces,
Never occurring that it could be inside of you of all the places.
You thought beauty is in the looks and it can be seen,
To find beauty on the outside you were just too keen.

Oh, but have you just given it a thought,
Maybe just maybe you'll find the beauty you sought.
The real beauty is on the inside, you just have to see,
Start with yourself; you're as beautiful as you can be.
