of brevity, intellect,
ferocity and sass
which has been
moulded by the
spices of a fiery
fire born from
sensuality and
wilderness.

But unlike you my
words aren't refined,
because all my life
I've focused on hitting
targets and breaking
boards or doing katas.
Yet for you my dear,
I'll try; I'll try to capture
the essence of your
confession and respond

Naked (An excerpt from Maya's
upcoming journal entry)

I was dizzy and giddy for you
at 13, felt woozy by 14 and my
health became fragile at 15,
then sweet 16 came along with
rapid blood pressure bleeping.

Then 17 didn't treat me right
either. Ask me why? Because
passing out and eyes rolling at
the back of my head, had been
a common phenomenon too.

— % &During 18 I became a
chaotic mess, throwing up
every now and then,
after the aftermath of
meeting you in the Karate
institute during our personal
training.

When 19 showed up,
this mind of mine couldn't
take it any more, I had hands
and feet which felt ice cold
and my emotions made me
look like a living corpse......
so now at 20, a confession
must be made.

"Yeah, I absolutely
despise those roaches
and eight legged
crawlers.
Yep, you heard me
right!"

His mezzo soprano voice
echoed through the phone.


Who knew that a man
and a woman could
bond over a common fear,
which is usually regarded
as a woman's paranoia
solely?— % &How could society
hold fear under the
guise of gender based
levels? Fear unlike any
other emotion is valid
and makes us look more
realistic and authentic.



I used to believe that men
could be categorised only
with some specific adjectives:
callous, raunchy, shallow,
emotionally unavailable,
stoical, burly and sturdy;
as these are all some
misconceptions and
stereotypes which
are fed into our minds
about masculinity since
childhood. — % &Oh boy, yesterday was a day which
proved me entirely wrong. There's
something absolutely captivating,
enthralling and inquisitive when
watching a man wear his heart
out on his sleeves because that's
something men are usually
forbidden from doing.

I'll be honest, emotionally
available men are more
attractive. Period!

Wouldn't it be great
if men across the world
didn't have to brag about
their valour and wear it
as a medal of honour for
society to put them on a
pedestal?!— % &As if on cue he
heard my unsaid
thoughts and promptly
answered from the other
side,

"If feeling my fears like
a normal human being
makes me anything less
than who I'm, well I'd
gladly love to remove
my name from the list
of manly men" — % &I narrated a random incident
to him next, "Once upon
a time,two bedbugs caught
my unwanted attention and
I became an eyewitness to
their private moment of
procreation. Ew...um that
was not on the list
of my preferred preferences"


He spoke in fluent sarcasm
laced with playful teasing
and with a chuckle he said,

"You're a damn lucky girl to
have witnessed that moment
tbh because those ancient,
invincible creatures usually
mind their business in the
darkest of alleys"

Though he couldn't
catch my expressions
but I laughed softly
followed by a playful
eye roll.— % &Men and their banter
is a new language which
I'm learning but according
to Human behaviour and
Psychology, usually men only
use their wicked, witty sense
of humour around those with
whom they can be themselves
and show their camaraderie with.— % &Unlike many men
out there who would
have easily fumbled
and rather stumble
to easily put their
Achilles heel on
display infront of
a woman, interestingly
my friend here had the
opposite response and
behaviour.


He casually confessed
that he equally despised
those bedbugs and eight
legged arachnids, as much
I did.

Isn't that how things are
supposed to be?
— % &If only fear and
empathy could
be shared, men
and women won't
be speaking in
foreign tongues.— % &
