I recollect blissful childhood memories of myself admiring the occasion of Karva Chauth in Bollywood movies of the early 20th century. My favourite was the moment when the boy would sneak up at his girlfriend’s bedroom window for them to break the fast together while the older united folks would be awaiting the arrival of the moon to fulfil the event.
The couples never did anything else but the fast until they were ready to go around the sacred fire seven times.
Today as I reflect on the significance of Karva Chauth, and the modern world we live in. There are many known and unknown opponents and rivals as predators to our husbands. I wish that more women would take this auspicious moment to fast for the safety and overall wellbeing of the man they love. The Loyalty, devotion and the divine sacrifice shall not go in vain; good always prevails over evil.
