Two pairs of eyes
For the first time met
Both smiled, strangers
Greeting each other.
Two pairs of eyes
Spoke in unknown language,
Which only they understood;
Two pairs of eyes
In unfathomable way
Fell prey to Cupid's arrow;
Two pairs of eyes
Waited to meet each other
Failing which, was agonizing;
Two pairs, eyelids embracing
Rekindled passion untold
Fire and rain in turns, manifold;
One pair, found a rainbow-
Taking a fancy to its show
Deserted the other high and low;
Flowing with tears, the other pair
Rained incessantly in despair;
Gradually learning to survive
With a thorn forever piercing it -
One pair lives and flows with life.
