बहुत से लोग अजनबी लोग सोचते हैं कि मेरे पास बहुत सारे पुरस्कार हैं...
प्रमाणपत्र और पदक...या मेरे पास अच्छे शब्द हैं.
हां यह सच है, मैंने जीवन में कई इनाम जीते थे।
इसीलिए यहाँ हर कोई सोचता है कि मैं एक बड़ा आदमी हूं।
या मैं एक पढ़ा-लिखा व्यक्ति हूं? सच तो यह है कि मैं नौवीं फेल हूं,
मुझे स्कूल से धक्के देकर निकाल दिया गया था,
और जिन मित्रों ने मेरे साथ भोजन किया था
मैं उनके चेहरे भूल गया, जब सब लोग स्कूल में पढ़ रहे थे,
तो मैं अपने घर का और बीमार माँ का ध्यान रखता था।
अपना घर चलाने के लिए मज़दूरी करता था, सब लोगों ने मुंह फेर लिया
पर मुझे मुझे खुद पर गर्व था,
फिर चाहे बरसात के समय में घर में पानी भर जाता हो,
या ऐसा लगता हो कि तूफान में घर की दीवार ढह जायेगी,
इसलिए मैंने एक घर बनाया
और खुशी से रहने के लिए आवश्यक सभी चीजें एकत्र कीं।
और जब माँ नहीं थी...मुझे अब कोई परवाह नहीं है
खासकर पैसों को लेकर,
और हाँ "कल की परवाह नहीं।....
