दूर दराज से आती वेे हवाएं,
ले आतीं थी, कभी सुकून, लूट-पाट, तो कभी हंगामा,
ऐसे ही आ पहुंचा था आज ही के दिन, वास्को-डा-गामा,
कोच्चि पहुंच अपना साम्राज्य फैलाया था,
हमारे गोवा में, काफी कुछ उन पुर्तगालियों ने ही बसाया था,
"आलू", "मिर्ची", "टमाटर" और, तोहफा है उनका ही हमारा "पनीर",
हम तो बस जानते थे, दूध, दही, माखन और खीर,
हमारे भारतीय खाने पर आज, सबसे ज़्यादा उनकी ही तो छाप है,
आज हमारे शादी पार्टियों में, ना हो पनीर तो वो "पाप" है,
सबसे पहले आकर, सबसे बाद इन्होंने भारत छोड़ा,
पर हमारे रीति रिवाजों को उन्होंने, नहीं तोड़ा-मरोड़ा,
गोवा, दमन, और दीव में मौजूद हैं, उनके सुनहरे पुर्तगाली स्थापत्य के नमूने,
ऐसी कड़वी खट्टी स्मृतियां, बताती हैं इतिहास, जब हम जाएं उन्हें छूने,
कुछ बुराइयों के बावजूद, पुर्तगालियों का हम पर काफी कुछ एहसान भी है,
उनके कारण ही संसार में "काली मिर्च" और "मसालों" में भारत की पहचान भी है....

only those cavities understood the gravity.

Make my tongue go flip flop

Serradura, Madeira
Dodol, Bolo de Portugal
Whip up some Portuguese treats
anything that's sweet
