Far from the land of elves and fairies
where the Christmas tide spread the glee.
Far from the city where halls of mirth and
robes of light triumphantly shine , shimmery
golds stream window panes and dimpled
faces smile and peace bestows on pavement.
I am homesick Mother, on this Christmas eve.

Through the rapid fleeting year when
sealed envelopes passed death notes and
victory bells peeled sin , I stood by a kin
to silently grieve by the grave of
cold blooded skin. The clamorous streets
no more whistle , but a gray abode of death.
