The Dancer With No Spectators (Short Story)

Rohini took a cab to a market. She has to buy some clothes and footwear. She was already late and then her cab got stuck in the traffic jam. While a girl, around eight to ten years old came. She was wearing a cotton frock, with a rugged full sleeve sweater inside it. And in jewellery, she was wearing multicoloured beads' earrings.

The Photograph (Last Part)

Saahir feels disheartened. He thinks that Narmin has embraced death because she was unable to accept the reality. He leaves the place without even enquiring about the matter. He tells his parents about what happened when he went to meet Narmin, at her aunt's place. They felt bad for their son and planned to marry him. Initially Saahir refused but then he agreed.

Flashback:
Saahir receives a letter from Narmin's address. It reads:
To Saahir
Saahir, since my parents left me for their heavenly abode, my soul has also started longing for death. Each memory lures me to join them in heaven. They were my world, and on their death, it came to an end. My lips have forgotten how to smile. I want you to please delay our marriage for a year. I am going out of the city, to live with my aunt for some time. I want you to marry a happy Narmin.

"Why didn't you get married?" asks Neelu. Narmin smiles and says, "When you love someone unconditionally, and then they leave. Even though they leave their place in our life vacant but their memories always reside in our hearts. The loneliness is noticed by everyone but the union of heart with memories remains invisible to the world". Neelu sighs and says nothing.
