Tea was introduced to India during the British Raj. But we made it our own and we changed it in such a way that it can no longer be called tea.
It's chai, our chai. Water, milk, sugar, black tea leaves, and spices like ginger, pepper, cinnamon, and cardamom could be added as individual flavors or together to become Masala chai.
The other type of tea we have started to recognize is green tea. Thanks to the ads and publicity by Lipton- green tea. But ardent chai lovers will never abandon desi chai for green tea.
All the tea in the world is just infatuation. Chai is true love.
