ତା'ର ଚେନାଏ ହସରେ ଦିନ ମଜୁରିଆ ରଘୁର ପେଟ ପୁରି ଯାଉଥିଲା। ଅଭାବ କ'ଣ ଜାଣିବାକୁ ଦେଇନଥିଲା ସେ ମା' ଛେଉଣ୍ଡ କୁନିକୁ। ନିଜ ପେଟରେ ଓଦା କନା ପକାଇ ଶୋଇବାକୁ ପଡ଼ିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଝିଅଟାର ଅଳି ଅଝଟ ସେ ପାରୁ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପୂରଣ କରୁଥିଲା ।
ହେଲେ ଯେଉଁ ଦିନ କୁନି ପାଠ ପଢି ନିଜ ଗୋଡରେ ଛିଡ଼ା ହୋଇ ସେ ପକେଟମାର ମୁକୁନ୍ଦକୁ ବାହା ହୋଇ ଘରକୁ ନେଇ ଆସିଲା, ରଘୁ କ'ଣ ଦି'ପଦ କହିଛି କି ନାହିଁ କୁନି କହିଲା,
"ଏମିତି କ'ଣ କରିଛ କି ମୋ ପାଇଁ ଏତେ ନାଲି ଆଖି ଦେଖାଉଛ"।
ସତେ ଯେମିତି ପାଦ ତଳୁ ମାଟି ଖସିଗଲା ବୁଢାର।ଏକ ନିଃଶ୍ୱାସରେ ଘରୁ ଚାଲିଗଲା ସେ ।
ଏବଂ ତା' ପର ଦିନ ସକାଳେ ରେଳ ଲାଇନରୁ ଜବତ ହେଲା ଜୀବନ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ହାରି ଯାଇଥିବା ଏକ ବୁଢା ବାପାର ନିର୍ଜୀବ ଶରୀର ।

"ଆରେ ଲତା,କୁଆଡେ ଡବଡବ ହେଇ ପଳେଇ ଯାଉଛ ମ?",କୃଷ୍ଣା ପଚାରିଲେ ।
ଲତା ଦୀର୍ଘଶ୍ୱାସଟେ ଛାଡ଼ି କହିଲେ,"କ'ଣ ଆଉ କହିବି ଭାଉଜ!! ବୋହୂଟା ପୁରା ମୋ ପୁଅକୁ ବଶ କରି ସାରିଲାଣି।"
ପ୍ରାୟ ପନ୍ଦର ମିନିଟ୍ ଧରି ଲତାଙ୍କର ଅଭିଯୋଗ ଶୁଣିବା ପରେ କିଛି ସ୍ମୃତି ଭାସି ଉଠିଲା କୃଷ୍ଣାଙ୍କର ଆଖି ପଲକରେ ।
ଯେତେବେଳେ ଲତା ଶାଶୁ ହେବା ଆଗରୁ ବୋହୂଟିଏ ଥିଲେ,ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ନିଜ କଲୋନୀର ମାଇପିମାନଙ୍କ ଆଗରେ ନିଜ ଶାଶୁଙ୍କର ନିନ୍ଦା କରି କହୁଥିଲେ ଯେ ସେ କୁଆଡେ ଲତାଙ୍କର ସ୍ଵାମୀ ମାନେ ତାଙ୍କ ପୁଅଙ୍କୁ ବଶ କରିକି ରଖିଛନ୍ତି ।
"କ'ଣ ଭାବୁଛ କି ହୋ??", ଲତା ଟିକିଏ ହଲେଇ ଦେଇ ପଚାରିଲେ କୃଷ୍ଣାଙ୍କୁ ।
କୃଷ୍ଣା ଅଳ୍ପ ହସିଦେଇ କହିଲେ,"ତମେ ମନ ଦୁଃଖ କରନି।ଯିଏ ଯାହା କରିବ,ତା'ର ଫଳ ପାଇବ।"
ପରେ ପୁଣି ଦେଖାହେବା ପାଇଁ କଥା ଦେଇ ଦୁଇଜଣ ସଙ୍ଗିନୀ ପରସ୍ପରଠାରୁ ବିଦାୟ ନେଲେ ।
କୃଷ୍ଣାଙ୍କୁ ଲାଗୁଥିଲା ସତେ ଯେମିତି ତାଙ୍କ ମନ ଭିତରେ ବାଜି ଉଠୁଛି ଟେଲିଭିଜନର ସେ
"କ୍ୟୁକି ଶାଶ୍ ଭି କଭି ବହୂ ଥି" ଗୀତଟି ।
