When I reflect upon the cupid's bow impressed upon my mobile screen where your images were a few minutes ago.
I cherish those joys now in my memories,

Tonight I dance in happiness for your success,

Night of the Snake

Tonight is the night my mother
saw a snake wriggling at the window sill
The rain had driven him to crawl inside
Or perhaps it was the lizards's swishing tail

Bright yellow spots stood out on the glistening black body
Flashing Forked tongue in and out
The goosebumps on my skin are yet to subside

Sister threw the laptop in a hurry to find a baton
All the efforts of the previous hours deleted and left unretrieved making her work all over again

The other one, remained too stunned to speak a word
Too paralyzed to shed the tears
Another sleepless night
Another night down the drain
Another night vanished with the snake

But tonight I remember you, Ezekiel.
I pen these lines, a little inspired, a lot broken!

Emotions rise like bile
As a swarm of termites swoop in the moment I open the door
Panic wars with the flying termites in search of a base
They colonize my thesis left half done
I drown with the thoughts of all my books stacked and packed in cardboard boxes
When I come up for air, I only end up with more water seeping in from every corner
There goes another night in the rain

My struggles are immense,
Inarticulate, but you know them well.

To finish this thesis.
