Basking in the halo of acceptance,
I have come to a realisation that
You will always have an empty home in my heart,
While I will eternally be stranded in the Sahara of yours.

When he finally had the world, the ears came back,
They cheered him up, wanted to hear his tale,
Empty pockets, uphill journeys, the ears were deaf,
Only the peak peaked their attention.
All this just for a piece of the pie,
But he now had no story to tell.

I have found solace in the dark,
Stopped the frantic search for the light from within.
After all it is the darkness that calms us,
Exorbitant brightness is blinding.

"Do not go gentle into that good night" they believe,
Darkness is monstrous is all they know.
But we are the most gentle in the dark, I imagine,
As when it arrives, is when we shut our engines.

When darkness befall is when I see things clear,
Drifting souls, near and dear,
Crystal clear is their glycerin tear,
As I embrace the dark, once my biggest fear.

The dim lit corners are not so bad,
It is my own space, where I hide my face,
Where my shame and sorrow has no trace,
And just be myself, in darkness' grace.

I am fine with fireworks from afar,
As darkness swallows my jealous scar,
And shadows lend an ear, a friend,
Till dawn arrives and I am masked again.

For a woman, a good man is the greatest gift

Once upon a time, you were special to me.
But lately, I have realised that you are not special at all.
You breathe the same air as I do,
Eat the same food as I do,
See the same sky as I do,
Contemplate pain in the same rain as I do,
Shed warm tears as I do,
Laugh at folly or to hide your agony,
Realise joy or sorrow at points of epiphany,
Love your friends and family, just like I do.
This made me realise that we were equally special.
Just fellow humans, running on a heart, muscles, skin, and bones
It was the un-boomeranged and unspoken love that you received from me.
That made us both special, but unequally.

We usually reminisce about the good times that have passed.
And anticipate the worst that's yet to come.
And yet once we learn,
To ponder the worst of the past,
And envision the best in the future,
That day will not be long, my friend,
When life becomes our biggest adventure.

Mindlessly scrolling down my social feed,
Stumbled upon an image of the one in the past.
A towering weight on my heart crumbled away,
She looked the same but looked different today,
I knew her, but she was a stranger today.

Who would have thought it was all in vain?
Memorised 10 digits, never to be dialled again.

The scars women carry, are noticed by the world,
Are healed by their closed ones, admirers and friends.
The scars men carry, have never met a pair of eyes,
Stealthy as they are, decaying in their graves.
