একটা শহর, ট্রাফিক ভিষণ, অশান্ত, অস্থির
একটা শহর, মায়াময়ী খুব, নিয়ন রঙের হাসি
একটা শহর, রাত্রি হলেই রূপকথা রাশি রাশি
একটা শহর রোদ্দুর মাখে, pamphlet বিলি করে
একই শহর, পাঁচতলা মল, বস্তির টালি ঘরে
একটা শহর ফুলের মতো, আনন্দ মালায় গাঁথা
আমার শহর, city of joy, ভালোবাসি কলকাতা!

I am the calmness of sea,
The low gurgling sound of the rocks
Beneath the waves,
Potray my innerself.
But I never speak.
You pour your heart out, to me ,
Every day...
I absorb your words,
Your pain engraved in those words,
In the deepness of my silence..
Your pains, your struggles, surround my heart
They surge and swell like storms,
But you won't get to hear a single cry,
Except for those gurgling stones,
Which is but a screeching reflection of my injuries,fiercely forcing their way through the vast sky of my silence
Thus you can call me an ocean
Amidst a billion speaker,
I am the one who listens...

The stars don't speak
Sun drenched mornings hush like trodden brown leaves
My sky doesn't expand beyond it's limits to show how the clouds in your sky melt everyday in the aroma of glittering sunbeams
Unlike before
Those blank canvasses of your memories render nothing but a deep drenched sob in the emptiness of my heart...
People tell me to move on
But I don't know how to move on without those shrouds of your memory, which wrap me up , so protectively everytime when I feel cold, dead!
Yes, you don't owe me anything
You know how to live without me
But your emptiness doesn't !
It has never left me alone since you've left
And I feel it's soothing shadow, every damn day!
At times it feels like I love the aroma of your emptiness even more than I loved you ,
It lingers round me, all day, silently, making me feel the very essence of life !
That's why I can't simply "move on"
It's better , you be happy with some other girl
I am better off with those scars, vacant ramshackles of memories, and that vast sky of your emptiness, cause I love them, I love them more than anyone could do...

And I'll percolate through the emptiness of your heart to drench those broken edges with love.

And I'll break each inch of myself in pieces
to render each piece in petals and bloom like a crysanthemum inside you.

Let me be your sea,
Deep blue in silence,
I'll sail through the the uncleared fog of
pains and broken carcasses of feelings,
amidst the pirated golds of prisoned happinesses and wrecked emotions to touch the eternity with you.

বৃষ্টি মেখে অভিমানী,
তোমার চোখে মুহূর্ত কিনি,
কবিতার বাহানায়!

ভেবেছিলাম তোমায় ছেড়ে শহর থেকে অনেক দূরে হারিয়ে যাবো মেঘলা রোদের মাঝে ....
যেখানে রোজ একলা সুরে ...মন কেমনের অচিনপুরে মেঘলা রঙের বৃষ্টি বীণা বাজে ....
ভেবেছিলাম সপ্নপরীর দেশে ... নিস্তব্ধ , ক্লান্ত বেলাশেষে বৃষ্টি ভেজা পাতার ওপর সাজবো পরীর সাজে ...
ভেবেছিলাম যন্ত্রণা হয়ে একলা কবির হৃদয় বেয়ে ফুটে উঠবো ব্যর্থ চিঠির ভাঁজে ...

কিন্তু হায় ! তোমার চোখে চোখ রেখে দেখি আমার সপ্ন তোমার চোখেতে জাগে ...
অভিমান আর আলতো অনুরাগে ..
তোমার অশ্রু বারেবার সিক্ত করেছে মম হৃদয় গহ্বর ...
বন্ধনে জড়িয়েছে মোরে কোন বেনামী অভিয়োগে .....

জীবনের সতেরোটা বছর পার হয়ে এসে পিছন ফিরে তাকালেই দেখতে পাই আজও স্মৃতির মরচে ধরা সড়কে প্রজাপতি রঙে রঙিন হয়ে প্রস্ফুটিত হয়ে রয়েছে আমার প্রথম ভাসানো কাগজের নৌকো ....জানিনা কোন অচিনপুরের ঠিকানায় ভেসে গিয়েছে ...বৃষ্টিকে সঙ্গী করে ...আমার শৈশব আর কৃষ্ণচূড়া ফুলের আলতো ঘ্রাণকে সঙ্গী করে ....কত সপ্ন ...কত কল্পনা ...কত রূপকথা গিয়েছে ভেসে, জনিনা কোন নিরুদ্দেশে ....আমায় কিচ্ছুটি না বলে সব হারিয়ে গেল চুপিসারে ....আমায় একলা ফেলে গেল কৃত্রিমতার কারাগারে ....
