LUST, NIGHT, AND FOG

Often I see them standing along the streets ,
I see cars stopping by ,
Slender legs walking towards the car,
Then after sometime the car door opens,
And, slowly I see them vanishing into the ever
Hungry oblivion of night and fog .
I see them lingering under neon lights,
Watching themselves into their pocket mirror , Sorting in cocaine and crystal meth , men crashing into them ,
I see a man tucking money between her breasts as ,
She unzips his pant, one after the other ,
Suddenly all the moments flashes by ,
And into the strange smiles and kisses they die .
Soon it will rain tonight,
And with every end of a homeless raindrop ,
Will come forth the beginning of a
Obnoxious hope of
Light .

Maha Shasthi marks the formal beginning of Durga Puja in Bengal, Assam, Odisha and Tripura and other eastern states. On this day, the four major rituals of the festival; Kalparamvo (the starting of the Pujas), Bodhan (consecration of the idol of goddess Durga), Amantran (inviting the goddess) and Adhibas (sanctifying the stay of the deity in the Puja area or pandals) are performed.
