MY NAME
I wonder why my parents
named me after a bird;
for its heavy carrying these
wings on my shoulders.
I tried to tear them
but it stuck on me
like freedom
refusing to let me fall
into the depths of defeat.

UNCLEAN
You will never feel clean
unless you wash your grief
with grace;
not guilt
rather than letting it sit on you
like an old wound
cracking open
at the slightest touch.
-
YOU ARE A POEM
You were merely a human
wandering in this world’s wilderness:
It is I who turned you into poetry -
made you immortal
with words.-
LIFELESS
If you believe people change for others
when they are deeply loved
remember -
no amount of water
can bring back dead flowers.
-
SEEKING YOU
She glanced at me
on a summer afternoon
and
I spent years of my life
searching for that moment
ever since.-
GRIEVING JOY
The world smells
loneliness all of a sudden
when I cry at birthdays
instead of funerals.

BUILD A HOME
After being homeless,
I realised my heart is safe now
as it only nurture those
who are worthy of laying a brick
in the home I’m building.-
IN MOMENTS
There are moments
we think belong to us,
but
they only come to visit,
like a whiff of fragrance
that lingers
just long enough to remind us:
it was never ours to keep.-
SIMPLER LOVE
Love in the older times
was simple;
you’d cut a slice of bread
and butter would follow.
Now, when you reach for it
there's cinammon, honey
and nuts
just like that love comes with
a variety of options
it never asked for.

QUIET REBELLION
On days when I just want to survive,
I don’t desire fancy but only plain:
I eat cold bread
and breathe peace,
like sitting in silence and
crying with dignity.
