Death comes, and I hug it
like an old friend at my door,
silent, steady, patient
a shadow long in the twilight.

No shivers run down my spine,
no screams scratch my throat
for I have danced in every dawn,
and loved in every dusk.

I have carved my laughter
into the marrow of life,
and wept like rivers
through the stones of grief.

So when death comes,
I do not flinch nor flee
I hug it close,
for it is not the end
but the gentle turning
of a page well-written.

I wish I could go back my childhood,
Where I enjoyed my childhood with my friends,
