बे-नाम ज़ात

कितना आरज़ी निकला मेरा वजूद-ए-फ़ानी,
मिट्टी में मिल के न रहा कोई निशान बाक़ी।

हर मोड़ पर कोई चेहरा भुला देता है मुझे,
यूँ मिटता गया मैं, जैसे न थी पहचान बाक़ी।

किस्सों में भी नाम न मेरा आया कहीं,
न लफ़्ज़, न मेरी कोई दास्ताँ है बाक़ी।

किसे फुर्सत है कि याद रखे एक ख़ाक को,
जब ज़ेहन में न रहें अफ़साने बाक़ी।

‘शबाना’, ये दुनिया है मसरूफ़ हसरतों में,
यहाँ किसे फ़िक्र है कि तू है या नहीं बाक़ी।

रंगीनियों में डूबे हैं मसरूफ़ कुछ इस तरह,
कर्ब-ए-जहाँ से बेख़बर हैं दीवाने दुनिया के

You’re running on your track,
I’m running on mine.
We both have somewhere to reach—
where, we don’t quite know.
But we keep running.

The journey is long,
and the fatigue is growing.
Running along in our separate lanes,
sometimes we glance sideways
and wave at each other—
“Hey, how are you?”

No time to pause,
so I can’t even reply
before you’ve already moved on.

One day, when you take a break from the race,
ask me again—“How are you?”
I promise I’ll stop too,
breathe easy,
answer with calm and honesty.
And then may be we’ll share a cup of tea.

When I go under the earth
do not crush me under
the weight of a tomb
let me be one with the sod

let the Sun
and the water
and the dust
and the air... all reach me
Let me be one with them

I lived under a tomb
when I was alive
chained by names,
sealed in survival.

But now—
Let the grass grow through me,
let roots claim me,
And then let the wind forget me kindly,
as I return
to where I truly belonged.

क्या बात है कि तेरी गली से अब ख़ुशबू तेरी मिलती नहीं
तू भी लगता है वफ़ाओं सा हवा में बिखर गया है कहीं

तुमने जो सितम किये उनपे सवाल नहीं
और जो हमने सब्र किया उसका जवाब नहीं

गर मिल भी जाओ तुम क़िस्मत से दोबारा
कहाँ से लाऊंगा वो ताब वो हसरतें पहली सी

लोग चेहरे से होके पलट जाते हैं देखें दिल तक पंहुचता कौन है
साहिल के शैदाई सब सागर के मोतियों तक पंहुचता कौन है

इस चटियल धूप सफ़र में याद आते हैं वो तबके ज़माने
तुम्हारे छूने भर से छू हो जाती थीं जब ज़माने भर की तकलीफ़े

धूप में आंचल नहीं सरपे कोई अंधेरों में साया नहीं साथ में
तुम्हारे जाने के बाद जाना क्या नियामत फिसल गई हाथ से
