THE STOLEN LEAF
I lost the leaf in which you confessed your love for me,
I still regret keeping the window open that night,
Lest if you come and I fail to hear your call...
I've still kept the windows open for you
When will you come?
The window panes are rusty now yet I've kept them intact only for you.
That night the wind took away the leaf from me-
Where you had scribbled your emotions with hands of yours.
Until that night, I slept only after murmuring the contents of the leaf.
The leaf had a tinge of reddish-orange hue, warm and bright as our love.
But the same autumn in which I found you, took away the leafy-letter
And left my world barren, in absence of the last symbol of you.
So in every autumn morning, amidst the windy rocky pavements
I walk and stand under those falling red leaves
And wait to catch, that one leaf which I had lost years ago.
Are you coming back?
Are you sending another autumn leaf?
With the words written, " Never let me go".
