invading my surroundings in different patterns.
You perceived the depth
of repeated bouts of darkness,
celebrating my essence of breath
until the reappearance of brightness.

When many sturdy slaves lost the battle,
days and nights halted beneath the skies.

Graves were build in a complex melody
of soldiers nestled in flowerless fields of strife.

A visionary scene of bliss
seen in wet eyes of the soldier's wife.

Yet again, the ultimate chaos of war
became the balance of life.

"Ordinary" is something
we all run away from
only to become
ordinary again.

This fantasy-world is just dust of illusion
and the nature lends clouds of confusion
but one move of mine will dissipate the doom
This flower child is about to bloom.

Back at his desk
in midst of the night
he sat down with a pen
and few papers to write.

Steel-walled pen in his hand
moved like a fighter
Those ink-dipped fingers
moved like a writer
pounding his print
on the old typewriter.

When some entangled stories
were rolling along his thoughts of golden shore
the morning glories
were already twining around the door.

THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE

A long time ago there was a hare
who bragged about his speed and drove tortoise to despair.
Tired of the hare showing off
the tortoise agreed to compete, marking the kickoff.
One, two, three and the running started;
the excited speedy hare and the slow motion crawls parted.
Leaving tortoise a long way behind
he saw a field of carrots which crossed his mind.
He shouted while he looked back
" I will win anyways so I'll be having some snack."
Taking the last bite, he looked around
but the tortoise was way too far to be found.
He decided to nap relieved by this fact
and underestimating the tortoise, he slept.
"I won the race", is what he dreamt
unaware of the long time spent.
Suddenly he woke up and jumped,
what he really saw got him stumped.
The tortoise was already winning the race,
he thought of nothing else, just rushed with pace.
But before he could even reach the end
the tortoise won and the hare couldn't comprehend.
So the tortoise said " the fastest doesn't always wins"
and left the hare sobbing with all his sins.

Dear Indore,

They say I never had a chance to leave you, what they don't know is I never wanted to leave you in the first place. I'm still in love with my birthplace.
There are countless memories we made together but do you still remember those times when I explored you, sometimes by myself and sometimes with everyone else. Do you remember how happy I was when I got you as my college place.
You grew along with my growth. From being a small city to four times being awarded the cleanest city in a row, from being an unknown place to being known as "Mini Mumbai"; you have lost less and earned more. The street food capital of M.P. has turned me into a foodie beast.
I can jokingly say unpleasant words about you but can't manage a day without you. I don't have more to say. You are and will be my rockstar anyway.

Yours lovingly inhabitant
Samiksha

A soul of
a firefly
igniting light in the night
was roaming
with a heart that opens freely
then it all of a sudden
felt caged in
until it found
freedom is just a state of mind
which acted as
a change
for changes are painful
but never useless.
A soul of a firefly
now bottled up
but still igniting the light in the night
and the soul's fate
now achieves
heights of insight.

It all started when we were playing hide and seek. I was wandering in a hideous attic, to find a place to hide. I hit the lights, dropped the curtains and hid behind a pile of cartoons.
What I witnessed next has brought me to this end.
While I was waiting to get caught, suddenly the bulb switched itself on. The velvety curtains started moving between its own folds. In fright I stepped forwards and fell down while my gaze was fixed on the curtains when I saw a silhouette juggling with neon balls. That moment I heard a voice which said " I caught you."It was my friend peeping out from the attic door. I left that place but couldn't leave the mystery of silhouette behind.
