तू मेरी थी, फिर भी नहीं थी,
मैं तेरा था, कह भी नहीं सका।
तेरे लिए हर गुनाह किया,
फिर भी देवता कहलाया... क्यों?

तेरी मुस्कान मेरी पूजा थी,
तेरी शादी मेरा व्रत।
मैं तुझसे दूर गया खुद को बचाने,
पर हर मोड़ पे तुझमें ही बिखर गया।

जिसे छू न सका, वही सबसे अपना था,
प्रेम अधूरा ही सही,
पर सबसे सच्चा था।

"मैं चंदर हूँ..."

मैं चंदर हूँ,
जिसकी आँखों में सुधा का अक्स नहीं, उसकी आत्मा बसती है।
वो सुधा, जो चुप रहकर भी सबसे अधिक बोलती थी,
जो मेरा प्रेम थी, पर कभी मेरी नहीं हो सकी।

मैंने प्रेम को बाँधना चाहा—
थीसिस के पन्नों में,
डॉक्टर शुक्ला की रसोई में,
या पम्मी की खुली बाहों में…
पर प्रेम कभी बाँधा नहीं गया।

दूर जाना चाहते हैं,
क्योंकि हर मोहब्बत का इम्तिहान यही है,
जो लौटे वो अपना है…
और जो रुके वो अधूरा रह जाता है।

दूर जाना ज़रूरी है,
ताकि हमारी मोहब्बत और गहरी हो सके,
हर मुलाक़ात फिर त्योहार लगे,
और हर इंतज़ार इबादत जैसा लगे।

दूर जाना ज़रूरी है,
कुछ बातें पास रहकर समझ नहीं आतीं,
कभी वक़्त और फ़ासले ही सिखाते हैं,
किसे खोना था... और किसे निभाना था।

मैं लौंटूंगा एक दिन तेरे दर पे,
वही हँसी लिए जो तूने छोड़ी थी,
तब तू कहना, ‘अब और दूर मत जाना’—
क्योंकि मोहब्बत लौट आई होगी… थककर… मगर सच्ची।

Things are hard with people who don't love you hard. People whose love isn't the ocean but its waves. The ones who always leave you confused. They don't tell you that they love you, but they also don't accept that they don't. They hold your hand but refuse to hold your heart. They lend you space in their heart, but they don't let you stay in it.
